This is the declaration of faith (Shahada) and the foundation of Islam. It is the highest form of dhikr and the key to Paradise.
Virtue: The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever constantly seeks forgiveness, Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress, relief from every anxiety, and will provide for him from where he does not expect."

Istighfar cleanses the heart from sins and brings peace. The Prophet ﷺ himself sought forgiveness 100 times daily.

Virtue: Allah says in the Quran: "Those to whom people said, 'The people have gathered against you, so fear them.' But it increased them in faith, and they said, 'Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel.'"

This was the dhikr of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) when thrown into the fire, and of the companions at the Battle of Uhud. It expresses complete trust and reliance on Allah in times of difficulty.
Virtue: The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever says 'La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamd, wa huwa ala kulli shay'in qadeer' one hundred times a day, it will be as if he freed ten slaves, one hundred good deeds will be recorded for him, one hundred bad deeds will be erased, and he will be protected from Shaytan."
